Riding Lessons
Flexible hours, wonderful horses, a fun learning atmosphere. Beginners to advanced riders welcome. Show guidance is also offered. Western or Huntseat lessons available. Ground and mounted instruction included in all lessons.
Certified helmets are required by all riders of all ages any time they are riding on the property. If you do not have your own helmet, we supply them for you. Lessons typically last for one hour with the exception of the first couple of introductory lessons where most of the time is spent on the ground (depending on experience). Students not only learn how to ride horses effectively, but also learn all aspects of horse care and management as well as horse behavior. No matter what your goal is, we hope to fill your needs and fulfill your goals with time and patience. All ages are welcome to join in on the horseplay at Bay View Farms.
All horses on the farm are Arabians and many of our horses are for sale. Learn to ride and fall in love with one, and he can become yours.
If you prefer to have lessons on your own horse, you may trailer in for your lessons, providing your horse has proof of negative coggins and strangles vaccine.
Before beginning a lesson program with anyone, we will do an intial interview and consultation at Bay View, or at your farm to gain a better understanding of your needs and goals with your horse.
To Register for lessons contact Denise 423-994-3364 or bayviewfarmstn@gmail.com
Riding Lesson Fees
Private Lesson: $45.00
Private lessons allow you to have one-on-one attention from a knowledgeable instructor for a full hour. This is a great way to advance your skills more quickly and to gain a better understanding of the principles taught in the lesson.
Semi Private/Group Lesson: $35.00
Taking lessons with a group can be very interactive and fun. A lot of the teenagers and younger kids take group lessons and have a blast learning to ride horses with their peers. We often do a lot of fun and games on horseback during group lessons. Each person still receives personal instruction, but it is more limited than in a private lesson.

Meet The Instructors

Denise Wright
Denise Wright is daughter of Bayview owners, Kinsman and Cheryl Wright. She began riding at the age of 7 where she started out riding saddleseat and showing Saddlebreds. Denise competed in local shows and 4-H. Later she became interested in huntseat and western riding where she went on to compete in the Arabian circuit in western pleasure on her horse Lunar. She qualified for Arabian Youth Nationals in 2003. Denise went on to attend Berry College in Rome, Georgia where she rode and competed for 4 years on the Berry College Intercollegiate Equestrian Team. Denise rode at IHSA Nationals in 2005 and 2007, and received her bachelors degree in Disability Studies. Today Denise is program coordinator at the Tri-State Therapeutic Riding Center in Cleveland and runs the lesson programs at Bayview Farms. She enjoys teaching huntseat and western lessons.
Kacy Hurlbert
Kacy Hurlbert began riding lessons when she was only five years old, and rode at her aunt's horse camp in the summer. She worked at a Tennessee Walking horse show barn during her middle school years, where she kept her first horse, Red. He was a 16+ hand quarter horse gelding who taught her a lot of valuable lessons. When she was a freshman in high school Kacy sold Red, and her mom bought her second horse named Mocha. Mocha was a quarter horse gelding with a mind of his own. Kacy and Mocha worked up to local shows where they won lots of ribbons together in western pleasure, jumping and hunt seat classes. Kacy took Mocha to college with her all four years. While attending Berry College, she rode for the equestrian team in huntseat and western disciplines and worked at the Gunby Equine Center. In college she gained experience breeding, breaking, foaling, and training horses. Upon graduating college with an Animal Scieince degree, she was hired to manage a large, private equestrian facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Today Kacy currently teaches riding lessons out of Bayview Farms, in Ooltewah, TN.
